British, circa 1900, full scale replica from the original black basalt stele excavated at Fort St Julien, el-Rashid (Rosetta), Egypt, Ptolemaic Period, 196 BC, by the British Museum, London; Gothic style oak case by Fogle Brothers (Winston-Salem, North Carolina, 1871-1932), French plate glass, 49 x 47-1/4 x 39-1/2 in.

Note:

This replica was fabricated by the British Museum from the original circa 1901. According to the museum, the inscription "is a decree passed by a council of priests, one of a series that affirm the royal cult of the 13 year-old Ptolemy V on the first anniversary of his coronation."
