(Italian,16th century) A rare, walnut double tabernacle mirror frame with gilt, polychromed and applied carving decoration; caulicus and ribbon decorated antependium beneath stencilled panels, applied acanthus 'pillars' surmounted by lion heads supporting a bracketed frieze, with another similar mirror with pediment flanked by stylized dolphin heads, verso gilt and polychromed with design of the frame recto, possibly Venetian, signed, 36-7/8 x 28-1/8 x 2-1/4 in. (overall), 12-1/2 x 21-1/8 in. (rabbet larger mirror) 7-1/2 x 9-7/8 in. (rabbet smaller mirror);. Provenance: N/A
