British, 19th century, brass handles and brass patent lock signed "Bramah", box is 9 x 10 x 10 in., height with stand 22 in.,. Condition: one hinge is broken, interior likely repaired, wood is dry on the back and slightly checked on the top, one corner of stand is rough. Notes: Joseph Bramah (1748 – 1814) was an English inventor and locksmith. He is best known for having invented the hydraulic press.
