Veneered and Gilt Bronze Mounted Tall Case Clock
Joseph Windmills, London, circa 1700, the hood with sarcophagus top with gilt finials and gilt appliques, the fine square gilt and silvered dial engraved "Windmills London", Roman chapter ring, seconds hand and date aperture, brass eight-day movement, each gilt applied spandrel centering a mask motif, the waisted case with finely grained burlwood veneers, the door and base set with gilt spandrel appliques, the base centering a gilt medallion depicting Cupid, stepped base with ebonized bun feet, 105-1/2 x 20 x 10-1/2 in. some restorations and possible veneering at top of sarcophagus, finials, door hinges and feet replaced, one columnette lacking brass capital, some minor patches and repairs to hood door, case door lacking an escutcheon, bell for works possibly replaced, saddle board and case appear to be a good match.
