attributed to South Carolina, early 19th century, hide-covered dome-top trunk with tack decoration, original iron lock and wrought iron handles, early paper lining, painted inscription at underside, set on fine walnut frame with yellow pine secondary, single dovetailed drawer and tapered legs, 25-1/2 x 31 x 16-1/4 in.. Condition: excellent condition overall, trunk with stains, surface distress and other flaws to hide cover, frame in excellent condition with minor losses to bed molding, other minor flaws. Provenance: found in Charleston, South Carolina, circa 1970s, and said to have come from a plantation; Brunk Auctions, November 2010; Private Collection, Charleston
