Baltimore, circa 1840, underside with inscription "Made by John Cummings in the city of Baltimore on 24 December 1840, and ornamented by John Cummings in Baltimore, finished for March 1841, presented to Genl. Jackson, Pres of the U States of America", finely decorated in wax resist decoration on maple veneer, top with vine and berry banded decoration centering finely detailed portrait of Andrew Jackson on horseback, surrounded by stars and surmounted by spread wing eagle, conforming decorated skirt and scrolled legs, 31 x 35 x 35-1/4 in.

in very good condition overall, scattered surface wear and some areas of retouch to ebonizing, minor restoration at back of one scroll at leg supports, other typical veneer cracks and edge repairs, veneer repair at one scroll, veneer repair at tip of one foot scroll, other scattered minor surface flaws and repairs
