Maryland, circa 1796, painted dial signed "Frederick Buster" for John Buster of Frederick County, Maryland, one gear on interior movement signed "John Hoover/1796" referencing an Emmetsburg, MD journeyman clockmaker, painted dial with fruit and floral spandrels, painted moon phase, calendar wheel, brass movement, set in fine inlaid cherry waisted case with scrolled pediment with inlaid rosettes, arched inlaid central drawer flanked by inlaid vine and floral carved and fluted quarter columns, base panel flanked by leaf and vine inlaid quarter columns, French feet with inlaid skirt, period pendulum and two weights, inlaid walnut oval lozenges, 109 x 19-1/2 x 11-1/2 in.

very good overall, feet professionally restored, otherwise good condition, surface wear and losses with minor flaking to dial paint, typical veneer checking including at case door, minor chip at one toe, minor filled shrinkage separation at base panels, typical minor inlay distress and repairs, original saddle board (case and works a good match)
