Cundiff was born October the 4th 1847", other dates and Cundiff family inscriptions, the case with original red and blue/green paint decoration, one case side decorated with stars, additional stars painted on bottom, interior with lidded till, poplar throughout, 18 x 34 x 14 in.

Note: Genealogy supports the tradition that this chest is from Greene County, Tennessee. William and Abraham Condiff (alternate spelling) both appear in 19th century Greene County records. Several William Cundiffs also appear in Kentucky records of the same period, and the chest could have connections to that region as well.
