areas of loss and repair consistent with age and use, sturdy, vibrant color, 4 inch strip patch at back of lid, later shims at front edges of case, some old losses at tenon joints, probably late 19th century green paint over traces of early blue. As the Sotheby's catalog indicates, "Has undergone typical native usage... the signs of usage are typical in furniture of the Northern Frontier. In original, "as found" condition."
