British, mid 17th century, central figure of Saint Mary Magdalene depicted as bare breasted and dressed in fine attire, standing next to a man holding a staff, both under a bright sun encircling a dove or phoenix, figures flanked by a lion and stag, along with other animal and plant motifs, stream below with fish, ducks and aquatic plants, worked in silk and metallic thread, 10-1/4 x 13 in.; 18th century stained wood frame, 11-3/4 x 13 in. - Provenance: Cora Ginsburg, LLC, New York; Property from the Collection of Dudley and Constance Godfrey

probably reduced, some stitch loss primarily to lower part of embroidery, fading, minor discoloration to female's shoes, cut edges and stitched to archival board
