attributed to Davis P. Brown, Arden, North Carolina, 1895-1967, black paint overall, applied strap handle from back of head to spout neck, facial hair, horns and eyes in white paint, eye sockets, mouth and nostrils decorated with red paint, scar and stitch decoration to right side of face, wart to left cheek, 23 in.. Condition: areas of bare clay, horns with possible loss and repaint, loss to goatee probably as made with new chip to left side and possible chip to end of eyebrow, 1 in. chip and repaint behind right eyebrow, paint variation throughout.
