Note: Matilde Poulat ("Matl") was a pioneering Mexican jewelry designer of the Silver Renaissance era. Trained as a painter at the San Carlos Academy, she opened her workshop in 1934 and developed a signature style blending Baroque metalwork with Mexican folk motifs—doves, flowers, bells, and angels.
Drawing inspiration from Mixtec art, she often used clustered turquoise or coral cabochons in crimped bezels, chased silver, and pyramidal-cut amethysts, making the garnets in this piece extremely rare.
