Note: This appears to be the largest known collection of this service, as well as the largest group offered for sale. Animals featured in this service were copied from Thomas Bewick's A General History of Quadrupeds, which was first published in 1790 and contains over 200 different woodcut engravings. It is unknown how many pieces and animals are included in the set. Previously unknown/undocumented animals debuting in this lot are the zebra, jaguar, black tiger, leopard, wild cattl [sic], improved Holstein or Dutch breed, and the cheviot rram [sic]. The New South Wales wolf appears on both oval serving dishes.
