British, circa 1745, rare and unusual design, possibly from the shop of William Vile or William Hallett, upper section with arched pediment set with carved and gilt shell and leaf applique, gadrooned moldings, over two finely figured and inlaid parcel gilt doors opening to shelved interior, fitted with two drawers, lower case of bombe form with removable upper section set with two concave inlaid drawers, above base with three inlaid long drawers set with bold pierced brasses and escutcheons, leaf carved chamfered corners with traces of gilding, carved and parcel gilt base and bracket feet, 95-1/2 x 48 x 23 in.

in excellent condition and presents beautifully, later foot blocking set with casters, other possible restorations to feet, scattered flaking and retouch to gilt ornaments, typical veneer cracks, shrinkage cracks, scattered flaws and repairs, especially at bandings, chip and loss at corner of cornice molding, some slight fading at upper doors, scattered flaws and restorations consistent with age and use
