circa 1852-1854, New York State, salt glaze, slip glazed interior, elaborate cobalt floral decoration to majority of front of jar, stamped "HARRINGTON & BURGER / ROCHESTER" just below flared rim, cobalt "4" capacity mark at shoulder, two applied arched lug handles, 17-1/2 in.

Condition

glaze voids and anomalies as made, staining, abrasions, 1 in. kiln debris, 1-1/2 in. anomaly near decoration as made with chip, spots of white paint, radial crack from front right handle through decoration around to back of jar, approximately 21 in. with slight movement, associated stabilized hairline cracks on the back of jar measuring 10, 4-1/2, and 3 in., some other minor hairlines associated, some illumination in cracks and on exterior due to residue
