Mahogany Pembroke Table
probably Savannah or possibly Augusta, Georgia, 1795-1800, line-inlaid top with two D-shaped leaves, single dovetailed drawer with yellow pine secondary flanked by inlaid diamond patera, original brass drawer pull, inlaid tapered square legs, old possibly original finish, 28-1/2 x 21 x 32 in., opens to 39 in.. Condition: excellent condition overall, old dry possibly original degraded surface with some finish distress to top, minor old losses at rule joints, some distress to backboard of drawer, other very minor surface flaws. Notes: This table is closely related to two tables recorded by MESDA (S-8258 and S-11524), one of which is illustrated in Bivins and Rauschenberg, [The Furniture of Charleston, 1690-1820] as NT-59..
