New York, circa 1795, in rich reddish brown color, highly figured inlaid hinged top, red baize lined interior with ratcheted writing board, two recessed compartments fitted with drawers, front with three inlaid dovetailed drawers, poplar, white pine, and probably sycamore secondary, tapered legs, brass casters, 30 x 37 x 21 in.

Exhibited at American Art GAllereies, The Girl Scouts Loan Exhibition, New York City, 1929.

Condition

excellent condition overall, veneer checking, shrinkage cracks, one dent to top, brasses replaced and castors of a later date, early baize with scattered stains and losses, other scattered minor abrasions, wear, and flaws consistent with age and use

Shipping arrangements are made only after the invoice is paid.  The payment for shipping is a separate charge from payment of your lots.

Sales Tax: If you live in North Carolina and/or pick up from the auction house, and do not have a valid resale tax number on file with us, you MUST pay North Carolina state sales tax. The NC Sales Tax will not apply to any items being shipped out of state (unless the client resides in North  Carolina) or to those clients with a resale tax number.
