painted top examined under black light and most painted details appear to be original with scattered paint retouches throughout primarily along central flowers, top has been varnished, cleaned and revarnished throughout its life, later upholstered interior and work basket, repair to one lyre scroll, lyre and base are grain painted with an old dark surface, legs with joint repairs, other scattered wear and imperfections expected with age and use
