late 18th century, the slate plate inscribed "The Gift of Thomas Schoals of Athenloo for His Friend Robert McCausland of Castletown/For Charleston South Carolina/w.o Fecit N.98", inscribed with 16 divisions and various small motifs, original brass gnomon, 11-1/4 in. square; carved and tiered wood stand with hole for gnomon, 1-3/4 x 12 x 12 in.

attractive patina and oxidation commensurate with age and outdoor use, gnomon lacking original pin, surface dirt/accretion, chip to underside of top right corner; general rubbing and wear to wood

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received.
