Blue Paint-Decorated Lift-Top Chest probably Southern states, underside of lid initialed and dated "IS/1803", white pine throughout, hinged lid with open interior with till and hidden compartment, front boldly painted with central heart flanked by spread-wing federal eagles, sides with white crescent moons on red ground, interior floor of bottom board with two inscribed peacock designs, underside of lid with several illegible inscriptions including "Samuel C. …yer", 24 x 49-1/4 x 21 in.. Condition: paint surface dry-scraped and with some associated paint losses and retouch, rear feet replaced, front feet with some patches and repairs, patches from additional hinges now removed, other scattered repairs.
