Landscape (NBI-1033 II), signed lower left "R.A. Blakelock" with cypher, oil on canvas, 4-7/8 x 10-13/16 in.; gilt wood and composition frame, lined, crackle with one strong central line, scattered light retouch mostly at edges; frame with losses to composition. Notes: hIn a letter to a previous owner, Mr. Geske wrote:
"I have examined the little painting attributed to Ralph Albert Blakelock, have entered it in our inventory as NBI-1033 and have placed it in category II of our classification system, the criteria for which are as follows:
Category II: This group consists of paintings whose technical and stylistic feature compare favorably with those of Category I, but which do not have a complete history of ownership.
The painting is certainly not an important example of the artist's work but it does contain the personal characteristics of his style to a degree that, in my mind, make it acceptable.". Provenance: A New York Collection
