British, circa 1700, Rebecca and Eliezer at the well, wool and silk tent stitch with metallic thread accents to Eliezer's curved pipe, sword hilt, and shoe buckles, trees with multicolored leaves, perched and flying birds, and small animals frame the four figures, on linen ground, 11-1/2 x 16-1/8 in.; probably 18th century stained wood frame with molded gilt liner, 15-1/2 x 20-1/4 in. - Provenance: Cora Ginsburg, New York; Sotheby's, London, November 26, 2003, lot 155; Property from the Collection of Dudley and Constance Godfrey
