American 19th century, all steel parts including scabbard, leather wrap handle, 29 3/4 in., attributed (family tradition) to Pvt. Thomas Ashworth, 6th Regiment, 60th Battalion, 2nd Division U.S. Calvary,. Notes: Ashworth died of dysentary while serving with Sherman in Savannah, Georgia.
