Bronze "Chan" Low Table New York, circa 1970, rectangular top depicting figures and horses, signed top, 17-1/4 x 48 x 24 in.. Notes: With copy of original LaVerne description of the scene: "Chinese artistry at its peak, under the Chan Dynasty, is recreated in this intricately carved design showing peasants carrying a sacred gift to the Emperor‘s child. Delicately wrought leaves, suggesting oriental and French designs, added to the rich variety of patina colors, enhance the Chinoiserie form.". Provenance: Private Collection
