18th century, poplar and white cedar secondary woods, shaped apron, shell carved knees with scrolled returns, trifid feet, original brasses; two notes to drawer interiors, the first reads "This chest belonged to cousin Betsy Griggitts who brought it to grandmother Frances Montgomery Lewis. As a little girl my grandmother kept her night gown, night cap in this drawer. It is probably considerably older than 150 years old. Jan 17, 1876"; the second reads "This lowboy is the property of my daughter Frances Penington Lampe and was given to her by me in April 1932. Nanci M. Lampe."; central drawer also with "R-63", 30-1/4 x 34 x 21-1/4 in.
