Provenance: Collection of Anne H. and Frederick Vogel III
Note: This easy chair was made by Frank Auspitz of York, Pennsylvania, who restored several pieces of furniture for Henry Francis du Pont that are now held in the permanent collection of the Winterthur Museum. During the restoration, Auspitz made careful measurements and exact drawings of each piece, which were later used to make this custom reproduction easy chair, after the circa 1760-1780 example in the Winterthur collection (acc. 1959.3386). The upholstery of the present lot was also completed by the same esteemed interior design firm used by du Pont for upholstery and curtains at Winterthur, Ernest S. Lo Nano of New York.
