20th century, carved wood mask with pointed protrusion under nose and boar's tusks on either side, mother of pearl ringed eyes and applied cowry shell and clay medallions to face, mounted cowry shells in clay encircle the wood mask with outer border of fiber, leather strap at top for hanging, 30 x 12 in. - Provenance: Mathias Komor, New York, purchased 1960s; Private North Carolina Collection lacking left eyebrow, losses and repairs to cowry shell mounts at top and upper right of head with some areas lifting, losses and repairs to left of nose and mid left border, fibers are shedding
