cal .69, barrel 25 in. with markings at lock plate "Palmetto Armory/SC" surrounding palm tree insignia, "Columbia/SC 1852" behind lock, "V/P/(palmetto tree)" at barrel top with "W.G.&CO" [mark for William Glaze] at left barrel side, also "SC" at top of buttplate, two brass barrel bands and brass tipped ramrod, overall 41 in.; accompanied by Palmetto Armory booklet by Jack Allen Meyer
Provenance: our consignor remembers paying “around $8,000” for this about 25 years ago at an obscure auction near Lake Murray; Property from Historic Dean Hall Plantation, South Carolina
Note: This firearm is an oddity in that it bears a shorter barrel than any other Palmetto Armory firearm. It makes one consider the possibility that it was cut down, although there is no evidence of this at the barrel end.
Available payment options
Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
