Italian, late 18th century, octagonal to round steel 6 in. barrels with gilt work, swans neck hammers, "P. Lorandi" inscribed lockplates, burl wood full stocks, inlaid wire scroll work design to tops of handles, carved wooden outline to ornate steel mounts and trigger guards, steel double medallion butt plates, inset thumbrests, one with horn tipped ramrod and steel extractor, the other ramrod wooden, both approx. 11 inches; Provenance: Private New England Collection

wear, cracks, chips and areas of repair to stocks, pitting scratches and wear to all areas of metal, loss of gilding to round barrels, losses of inlay to scroll work at both handles, loss of mother of pearl inlay to thumb rest, probably replaced with bone, one ramrod missing horn tip, mismatched jaw screws, trigger mechanisms seem to function properly
