double knopped form with rounded octagonal bases, inscribed ownership monogram "JAR" to bases, 7-1/2 x 4-1/4 x 4-1/4 in.
Provenance: Collection of Winthrop Carter (accompanied by cut out from Journal of the Pewter Society); Collection of John B. and Marie-Teresa Vander Sande, Newbury, Massachusetts
Note: According to a writeup by David Walter-Ellis, examples of this form in pewter are extremely scarce. Walter-Ellis writes "Examples of this form in silver are regarded as one of the most charming variations on the more standard forms of circa 1710-1715. It is generally assumed that similar specimens in brass are some few years later in date... The discovery of this pewter pair of similar date circa 1720 happily fills another gap in our records."
