Manual Mafra, Caldac, Portugal, late 19th century, earthenware, with figures of lizards, snails, salamanders, moths and beetles on overall sandy-textured ground, one light-brown colored, 15-1/2 in., the other green with large green and brown lizards for handles, mark inside green cover impressed crown / M. MAFRA / CALDAS / PORTUGAL, 14-3/4 in., firing cracks inside both covers with numerous small chips on rims, small chips on noses of handle lizards, shallow glaze chips on top rim of both jugs, small glaze chip on snail shell, both finials have repaired heads, numerous repairs to legs, heads and tails of critters overall .
