probably British, circa 1800, each with carved and pierced splat, over the rail upholstered serpentine seats on tapered square legs with stretchers, set on casters, fern and leaf decorated upholstery, 38-1/2 x 22 x 20 in., seat height 18 in.

Note: While these chairs relate closely to Connecticut and Rhode Island examples, the secondary woods suggest a British origin.
