Provenance: Elinor Gordon Chinese Export Porcelain, Villanova, Pennsylvania, September 23, 1997 (accompanied by copy of receipt); Collection of Karen Shackleford Moore, Baltimore, Maryland
Note: Christian Augustus and Joanna Elisabeth wed in 1727 and would have five children over the course of their marriage. Their eldest child, Princess Sophie of Anhalt-Zerbst, would herself go on to wed Tsar Peter III, whom she would overthrow and oust, assuming the throne herself under the regnal name of Catherine II. History best remembers her as Catherine the Great.
