Bronze-Form Vases
Chinese, 18th/19th century, extremely rare pair massive bronze-form vases in deep rich aubergine eggplant skin glaze, galleried trumpet-form neck, center flaring outward to a slightly inclined rounded shoulder and is carved in relief with a ferocious dragon amidst flames, in pursuit of a flaming pearl, boss-applied borders, foot with carved pendant [ruyi-]form foliates, some areas left unglazed showing some areas of burning, 14-3/8 in. one with firing crack around entire interior rim (not through to exterior), glaze scratches, glaze roughness above foot, the other with minor surface scratches and roughness above foot.
