Chinese, Guangxu mark and period, each with gilt rim and body decorated with colorful flowers, unglazed foot, six-character Guangxu mark of the period in underglaze iron red, 2-1/2 in. good condition. Notes: These cups may be those referred to in the 1929 Bluett & Sons catalog of the Charles Oswald Liddell collection. Catalog 150 records a "Pair of cups, the exterior enameled with "mille fleurs." Mark and period of Kuang-Hsu, 1875-1909." The cups were purchased at The Fine Arts Company of Philadelphia, September 29, 1978, lot 326-C, by Thelma Osborne (accompanied by copy of original receipt).
