signed "Chibout" (Pierre Chibout, French, active circa 1806-1824) inside bottom foliate rondelle, with patinated bronze cupid caryatids supporting gilt bronze arms with shell and floral devices, mounted on a gilt bronze plinth, 26-1/2 in.Note: Pierre Chibout (or Chiboust) was a bronze maker in Paris, working alongside Claude Francois Rabiat (Paris, 1756?1815). Chibout took over Rabiat's workshop in 1815 after his death., Provenance: Private Charleston Collection

Condition

one with repair to candle arm, one with repair to scroll on candle arm, wear and discoloration to gilt surfaces, areas of gilt retouch, light wear to patinated surfaces, verdigris to candle cup interiors, few casting flaws, one cherub with visible seam and slight separation where wing attaches, both cherubs lacking implement in proper left hand and proper right hand, candelabra mountings slightly loose, wax residue, other minor surface wear and abrasions consistent with age and useÿ
Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser’s risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items. Items purchased from our Asheville auction facility not picked up within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item.
