Christ's Charge to Peter (Matthew 16: 18-19 and John 21: 15-17), in reverse (after an engraving) of the cartoon for a tapestry by Raphael for the Sistine Chapel, Rome on loan to The Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 18th century, oil on canvas, 42 x 55 in.; carved wood frame, 50 x 61-3/4 x 2-1/2 in.

Condition

lined with paste and linen with some pest damage verso, patches, retouch, surface dirt, abrasions, small points of flaking; frame with some losses and resurfaced
