Spanish/Peruvian, 19th/20th century, including a ledger Testamento e Inventarios .. del Sr. Antonio Jose Boza y Eslava Marques de Casa Boza .. Rendida por Dn. Geronimo Boza y Aprobada por sus Coherederos / Ano 1833, bound in blind stamped red leather boards with gilt lettering and decoration, with five raised bands, detailing the will of Antonio Jose Boza, III Marques de Casa Boza; an application for Maria Teresa Benavides y Benavides's admission into the Sovereign Military Order of Malta as a Dame of Magistral Grace, dated March 1973, which includes a signed letter of recommendation from Fernando de Trazegnies, V Marques de Torrebermeja, citing Maria Teresa's husband, Francisco Mendoza y Boza, as a being a member of the Order's Board of Directors, giving credence to her admission, facsimiles of her baptism and marriage certificates, and curriculum vitae; two hand inscribed Sovereign Military Order of Malta documents "Sacrae Domus Hospitalis Sancti Joannis Hierosolymitani Militaris Ordinis Sancti Sepulcri Dominici" issued to Waldemar Schroder y Mendoza, the first written at top "Frater Ludovicus Chigi Albani" (Prince and Grand Master of the Order from 1931-1951), dated 1948; the second written at the top "Antonio Hercolani Fava Simonetti" (lieutenant general of the Order from 1951-1955), and dated 1951, each with a cast bulla or Seal of the Great Master attached on red cord; a two piece Sovereign Military Order of Malta uniform with Italian labels "Alberto Leoni / Via Borgognona 42 / Roma", including a red and black ceremonial uniform with brass buttons depicting the Maltese cross, approximately size large, 39 in.; and a black cloak with a large Maltese cross stitched on the upper left, with a gilt metal link fastener at the collar, approximately size large, 49 in.; pair of black pants with a stitched gold and red stripe down the legs, approximately size large, 44 in.Note: The Marquesado de Casa Boza is a Spanish noble title first granted in 1736 by King Felipe V to Jerónimo de Boza y Solís. The title of II Marques de Casa Boza went to his only son, Don Pedro de Boza. The title of III Marques de Casa Boza went to Don Pedro's son, Antonio Jose Boza y Eslava, to which the ledger in this lot pertains to, and was created by Antonio Jose's son, Don Jeronimo (or Geronimo) de Boza y Carrillo de Albornoz. The title of IV Marques went to Don Geronimo de Boza, who died with only female heirs. The title of IV Marquesa de Casa Boza was restored in 1930 by King Alfonso XIII in favor of Sara del Castillo y Boza, the granddaughter of Don Geronimo de Boza. Sara del Castillo died in 1951 without succession, and the title of V Marques de Casa Boza was issued by letter of succession to Don Francisco Mendoza y Canaval in 1960. These items descended in the family of Don Francisco Mendoza y Canaval, V Marques de Casa Boza. Francisco Mendoza y Canaval married María Teresa Benavides y Benavides, the daughter of President Oscar R. Benavides. The items in this lot were purchased from Francisco and Maria’s daughter in the 1990s.The two Sovereign Military Order of Malta documents in this lot pertain to Waldemar Schroder y Mendoza (Peru, 1882-1966) who was the first cousin of Don Francisco Mendoza y Canaval.  , Provenance: Don Francisco Mendoza y Canaval, V Marques de Casa Boza (Peru, 1911-2000); by descent in family
