circa 1790, globular jug with strap handle, cream slip carved and incised with the crowned Royal Arms within the motto of the Order of the Garter above the motto of the English royal motto, with crowned lion and unicorn supporters below the initials "GR", flanked by stylized roses, the reverse with inscribed drinking poem within heart reserve "When I was in my Native Place/I was a lump Clay, And digged was/out of the Earth and brought from/away. But now I am a Jugg because/by Potter's Art and Skills and now/your servant am became and carry Ale I will/Mr. William Richard.", 12-1/4 x 10 in.
