Walnut Tall Case Clock
New Jersey, 1775-1795, dial signed "Morgan Hollinshead, Moorestown" (Moorestown, New Jersey, 1757-1832), back of dial signed "CJ11", painted dial with floral spandrels and windmill arch, date ring and seconds hand, waisted case over paneled bookmatched-walnut base on original ogee bracket feet, pendulum and two weights, 91-1/2 x 20-1/2 x 10 in., dial with craquelure and some chips and losses including at signature and date ring, feet ended out approximately 1 in., crack in door, cracks and checking in base panels, period seat board, uprights slightly trimmed but appears to be a good match. Notes: Morgan Hollinshead advertised in 1775 he "had opened shop in Moorestown on the Great Road leading from Philadelphia to Mount Holly".. Provenance: Private Collection
