Inlaid Cherry Slant-Front Desk
probably Connecticut, 18th century, cherry with white pine secondary, dovetailed and rosehead nail construction, inlaid fallboard opening to an elaborately fitted interior set with 19 drawers, some drawers blocked, inlaid, or fan or star carved, on original straight bracket feet and heart-pierced skirt, 42 x 35 x 20 in. refinished, cracks and patches to fallboard including strip patch at one thumb molding and patches at hinges, back board replaced (modern laminate), minor losses to skirt spurs, fallboard appears to be original material but hinge history opens the possibility that the lid is a replacement (patches at hinges at stationary side).
