Note: Nevers, a city in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comte region of central France, emerged as an important center for faience production in the early 1600s, maintaining strong connections with workshops in Lyon. The 1565 marriage of Louis Gonzaga of Mantua to Henriette of Cleves, the heiress of Nevers, played a key role in attracting Italian artisans to the city, leading to the establishment of local faience factories.
