English, circa 1840, hat-form cover of tapering square form with four-tier pagoda finial, two pierced stylized dragon handles, various size random vignettes on four sides of lid and body depicting landscapes, pavilions, pagodas, birds, mythical beasts in shades of iron red and green, deep cobalt ground with overall gilt berries, vines, flowers, scrolls, 59-3/4 in., approximately 13 in. square at shoulder, three corners of cover broken and repaired, light surface wear, losses to gilt edges.
