Chiming Tall Case Clock dial marked "Elliott London", circa 1905, arched dial with painted moon phase, silvered and gilt dial with chimes silent and Whittington and Westminster chimes, finely carved mahogany case with arched pediment, anthemion, bellflower and garland decoration, beveled glass front and side panels, paw feet, 105 x 31-1/2 x 20 in., excellent condition overall, surface wear and abrasions, some wear and polish residue to chapter ring. Notes: This clock is illustrated in Tran Duy Ly, Kroeber Clocks, American and Imported, p. 47. The book notes that it is "the premier and most expensive Harris & Harrington tubular chiming tall clock, Model No. 9, with nine tubes that Kroeber used on his letterhead and envelope stationery. This clock's movement was made by J.J. Elliott & Co. of London, for whom Harris & Harrington were agents. A 1905 price list shows the movement retailed for $185, and the carved case with glass sides as pictured was an additional $117 for a total of $302". A copy of the book accompanies the clock..
