(Edgefield, South Carolina, b. circa 1800, d. after 1873) attributed to Dave Drake, likely made at Lewis Miles Stony Bluff Manufactory, Horse Creek Valley, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850s, thick runny olive green alkaline glaze covering the majority of the interior with areas devoid of glaze on exterior, wide tilted ovoid form, 8 and 7-1/2 in. lug handles applied to opposing sides of jar, short neck with thick semi rounded rim, likely 11 gallon capacity, 17-1/2 in. tall, 54-1/2 in. circumference

glaze voids and anomalies as made, 3 and 3-1/4 in. rim chips, 9-1/2 in. crack from rim down side of jar passing through a clay body loss with associated hairlines, visible in interior, possibly as made, another 1-1/2 in. hairline at rim, visible in interior, other rim wear, 1-1/4 in. glaze chip to one handle, 3/4, 1-1/2,. and 2-1/4 in. chips to other handle with three other smaller associated glaze chips, 2 in. chip to clay body at belly of jar, 11 in. firing separation at base edge, another 7 in. series of firing separations at base edge, none of which show in interior, some firing hairlines on interior base, other minor surface abrasions and minor glaze chips to body, wear to unglazed areas of exterior, hairlines to glaze in interior, unglazed areas in lower interior
