late 19th century, hinged top with quilted and fitted interior, paper label "For Louis Vuitton Serial No. 44780", two interior trays, exterior with damier checkerboard design and stenciled signatures "Marque L. Vuitton Deposé", stenciled McAlpin monogram, 22-1/2 x 39-1/2 x 22 in., wear and abrasions from use, some losses and dry rot at front edge of lid, lacking leather strap, other surface distress especially to top, interior with some stains and distress to quilting and lining, one tray possibly lacking dividers.
