Boston area, 18th century, figured single board top with molded edges, over four graduated block front drawers, set with original bat wing brasses and escutcheons, dense figured mahogany throughout, white pine secondary, 31 x 31-1/2 x 21-1/2 in.
lacking central skirt drop, otherwise very good, original feet and most blocking, all feet with later bracing and one with later screw (one rear foot somewhat loose, associated cracks at side molding), lacking one rear corner return, drawer backs with later bracing strips, patches, cracks, and later nailing to applied facing flanking drawers, water stains and surface wear to top, lacking both side knee returns (others possible old restorations), other scattered minor repairs and surface flaws, a very high quality chest in need of a little tightening up
