American, 19th century, originally owned by Mayor John Swift of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, comprising: chest with checkerboard on top and backgammon board underneath, 4-3/4 x 20 x 12 in. closed, 2-1/4 x 20 x 24-1/8 in. open; 22 circular checkers pieces, 9 dark colored and 13 light colored, each approximately 3/8 x 1-1/2 in.
