30-3/4 in. blade, finely etched "CSA" with flag and other flourishes, curved brass hilt, leather grip with twisted wire; leather scabbard with brass mounts; includes sell sheet from Gary Hendershott, communication with Dyer descendent, personal information on Lt. Col. Dyer and the Tennessee 13th Regiment˜Note: This is the sword that was carried by Major B.L. Dyer, 13th Tennessee Infantry, later promoted to Lt. Colonel. He was wounded at Atlanta and was in the Okmulgee Hospital in Macon after the fall of Atlanta. This sword still retains 90% gold gilt, and a magnificently etched "CSA" and Confederate Flag ornately engraved on a frosty blade by L.T. Cunningham, sword maker at the College Hill Arsenal in Nashville, Tennessee, until it fell to Union troops in 1862. Thus, the sword had a short-lived production. Condition

overall excellent condition, light scratches and dark areas to blade; scabbard with some splits to leather and areas of weakness (currently supported by a wooden splint)˜
For regional auctions, purchased items not picked up in Richmond by noon on Sunday will then be returned to our Asheville location auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
