Deep Bowl Japanese, 20th century: covered jar with two handles, lid with stylized finial, ovoid bodies with elephant-head handles and decorated with figural panels, circular platform base supported by five elephant-head scrolling feet, 15 x 8 in.; bowl with enameled sunburst center and ring banding, four oval panels with stylized floral and landscape designs, verso with butterflies and insects, unglazed foot with glazed center, base unmarked, 3-1/2 x 7 in., cover with crack to underside and rim, body with crack to top rim and at edge of one foot with minor surface losses to enamel; bowl with old break and repair to side wall.
